What was done and why?

Five reaches of Accotink creek were stabilized using a wide range of urban restoration techniques in this highly developed watershed. This is another example of a watershed-wide restoration program.

Who was involved?

The City of Fairfax and Department of Conservation and Recreation were the key organizations involved in the project

Why is this a model project?

An extensive monitoring plan was developed to measure habitat quality and macroinvertebrate diversity before and after restoration and incorporated the use of a reference site.
